Hauptbahnhof Wien
Der Wiener Hauptbahnhof liegt im 10. Bezirk Wiens auf dem Grund des ehemaligen Südbahnhofs und ist der erste Hauptbahnhof in der Geschichte der Stadt.
Die Süd-, Ost- und Laaer Ostbahn waren schon seit langem an dieses Areal verknüpft, die Züge der Nordbahn erreichen den Hauptbahnhof über die Gleise der Laaer Ostbahn. Seit die Westbahn über den Lainzer Tunnel ebenfalls an den Hauptbahnhof herangeführt wurde, kann über den Bahnhof der komplette Fernverkehr von und nach Wien abgewickelt werden.
Vienna Central Railway Station
The Vienna Central Railway Station is located at the estate of former Südbahnhof. It is the first central railway station in the history of Vienna.
The rails of south, eastern and Laaer eastern railway reached the areal long before central Station was build. As north-bound railway touch central station via Laaer eastern railway and western railway have been connected by a long tunnel all long-distance traffic now can be managed via Vienna Central Railway Station.
Der Bau wurde (inklusive der Vorarbeiten) 2009 begonnen, die Hauptbauarbeiten begannen im Frühjahr 2010. Die Inbetriebnahme erfolgte, folgend den Baufortschritt, schrittweise ab Ende 2012. Die komplette Freigabe wie auch die offizielle Eröffnung des Hauptbahnhofes und der BahnhofCity erfolgte am 10. Oktober 2014.
Auf dem Grund des ehemaligen Südbahnhofs entstehen zwei neue Stadtteile, an denen noch gebaut wird.

Construction work began at the end of 2009, main building works started in spring 2010. Commissioning was done in various steps following construction progress from end of 2012 onwards. The complete commissioning and the official opening ceremony took place on Oktober 10th 2014.
In addition to central station, there are two new quarters in the process of arising at the areal of former Südbahnhof.
